Content Management module
When the Content Management module is added to Unity it adds a suite of functionality to allow the editing and updating of pages using text and images from a computer or the internet. This requires no previous knowledge of programming web sites.
Updating a site can be a costly and time consuming process. Businesses generally know what needs to be said on a site but rely on a third party company to make updates. This can hinder urgent or time sensitive announcements.
Below is an overview of the functionality provided by the module:
-
The design and branding of a web site is merged with the content produced by the module enforcing a consistent look across the site.
-
Pages can be added to the site with text, links and
images. These can be scheduled to appear and expire on a specified date and version control is enabled to allow the rolling back of a page to a previous state. Customisable
security means that pages may only be displayed to certain visitors of the site.
-
Different
templates can be designed to provide multiple layouts for varying styles of pages such as news articles and legal pages. Page templates can be assigned fields which can laid out specifically within the layout of a page.
-
The site
structure can be created and altered using simple clear steps, allowing new sections of the site to be changed. As with the pages, the structure can be customised to only be accessed by certain site visitors. Sections can link to content managed pages or to certain site functionality such as a feedback form.
-
Smaller pieces of content referred to as
promotions can be added to the site. These can be grouped into areas on a page layout and randomly rotated for a visitor. This helps to provide fresh and new content to a visitor with every page they visit.
-
Site
keywords store lists of words describing the site or certain areas of it. These can be maintained in a clear and simple way allowing the site to reflect the content it contains with search engines.
-
The module provides true authoring workflow, ensuring that changes receive appropriate approval before they are released. This can allow the distribution of updates to an external marketing or copy right company but still allows our customers to approve any changes made.
-
All pages on the site are available for
searching.
