Security can be complex or extremely simple for an organisation and Unity's security model has been built with this in mind. The model has the following structure:
By placing users of the site within user groups changes can be cascaded to all group members simply and easily. User groups can be assigned both role groups and roles to assign broad and specific security options.
Role groups contain related collections of roles for instance creating, deleting and updating an item. In most instances role groups are assigned to users or user groups unless only specific roles are required for users.
Roles are required to perform specific Unity operations. Without the delete role a user may be able to create an item but not delete it.
Whether they are a customer of an online shop or a member of a company assigned to update the news every person becomes a user in Unity. By assigning them user groups, role groups and even individual roles, control to each user's permissions on the site can be simply controlled.
